5th Grade Keyboarding
May 01, 2007
Thanks to a donation from an area business, Saunemin's 5th grade class enjoys the use of laptop computers throughout the school year.
We use our laptops daily. Our laptops have the Mavis Beacon Keyboarding program on them. This program monitors a student's keyboarding skills and adjusts their lessons based on a student's WPM (words per minute) and the number of errors a student has in a given lesson or speed test. We take 2 speed tests each week that account for our student's Keyboarding grade.
So far this year, our class has shown some pretty good progress. As a class, we've went from 5.8 WPM (words per minute) in Week 1, to 7.5 WPM in Week 2, to 10.1 WPM this past week.
Many of the students have achieved double-digits in their WPM with many students into the teens and one student already at 18 WPM!!
